Pacific Rim School District Announces New Director of Instruction – Learning Innovation & Human Resources
Port Alberni, BC September 25, 2026 - Pacific Rim School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Maghen Girard as Director of Instruction – Learning Innovation & Human Resources.
Ms. Girard brings extensive educational and leadership experience to the position. She currently serves as Principal of Tsuma-as Elementary School and has previously served as Vice-Principal at three schools across Pacific Rim School District. She holds a master’s degree in special education and has contributed her experience and perspective through leadership roles at both the district and provincial levels.
In addition to her work in education, Ms. Girard has a strong history of community involvement, reflecting her commitment to building meaningful connections between schools, families and the broader communities they serve. With a passion for instructional leadership rooted in the belief that every learner deserves access to engaging, inclusive and high-quality learning experiences, Ms. Girard is excited to contribute to the district’s strategic planning, professional learning, workforce support and educational innovation, while maintaining a clear focus on student success.
Throughout her leadership journey, Ms. Girard has placed a strong emphasis on building collaborative and respectful relationships with students, families, staff, Indigenous communities, union partners and community organizations. Her relationship-centered approach, combined with her experience in instructional leadership, inclusive education and community engagement, will be invaluable as she steps into this district leadership role.
