Community Foundations Bursaries and Scholarships
EALC Bursaries (2026)
Students at the Eighth Avenue Learning Centre (EALC) formerly known as VAST, have their own scholarship program. The staff decide who best receives those awards - they do not required students to fill out applications. Staff advise the AVCF of their selections and contact information. On receipt of proof of registration at a post secondary institution the AVCF will forward a cheque to the student. Students at EALC are welcome to apply for the Scholarships & Bursaries listed in the ADSS package following the expected guidelines, submitting applications for those Scholarships or Bursaries.

Dr S.F. Chan Memorial Scholarship for EALC student considered to be most improved or most all round student. 1 x $1000

The scholarship aims to support and promote students pursuing careers in the tourism sector. The $10,000 award is available to high school students graduating from a secondary school or an accredited home school program within the region, who intend to continue post-secondary education in a field related to tourism or hospitality.
Post-secondary programs may include areas related to tourism, such as administration, human resources, accounting, etc. As long as the student can connect the program to tourism in the area, they will qualify.
