NOTICE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Pacific Rim School District Welcomes Students for the 2026-27 School Year!!
The following schools will RE-OPEN for the 2026-2027 school year on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as follows:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (district-wide)
- The first day of school for all Elementary students will be Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 10:00-12:00pm.
- Students enrolled in Kindergarten start on the date and time indicated in the letter, they received from their Kindergarten teacher.
ALBERNI DISTRICT SECONDARY SCHOOL
- September 8, 2026 10:00am - 12:30pm Grade 8’s Only
- September 9, 2026 8:30am - 3:05pm All Students
- September 9, 2026 Land Based Learning Program begins
The Advising Centre will be open over the course of the summer, from 8:30am - 3:05pm, for students to collect timetables and address scheduling concerns. Please look at the dates our advisors are available and/or consider calling ahead before dropping in.

EIGHTH AVENUE LEARNING CENTRE
The Eighth Avenue Learning Centre (Alternative programs and CHOICES Online Learning) will begin the school year by having detailed planning meetings on a one-to-one basis with students and their families. Returning and new students will be contacted by their teacher-advisors throughout the week of September 8th, 2025, to schedule these planning meetings. BUS TRANSPORTATION
Tuesday September 8, 2026 ONLY
Morning Pick Up
School buses will be doing morning pickups one hour later than their regular morning pickup time.
Afternoon Drop Off
Elementary School students will be picked up from school at noon for their return trip home.
Grade 8’s at Alberni District Secondary School will be picked up from school between 12:40 – 1:15pm for their afternoon return trips home, depending on their route.
Grade 8’s at Ucluelet Secondary School will be picked up from school at 12:10pm for their afternoon return trips home.

BUS PASSES
Students who used bus transportation last year and already have a bus pass do not need to register again. Their existing bus pass will remain valid, even if they have moved catchment areas or schools.
Students who did not use bus transportation last year, and who do not have a bus pass from last year, will need to register for busing. Please ensure your child is registered before October 30, 2026.
