This unique program replaces a student's regular PE course and offers 90+ hours of instruction both on and off the ice. There is no minimum skill requirement as skill development is the main objective of this program. Students earn their grade-equivalent PE credit upon successful completion of the program.
Part of the Hockey Canada Skills AcademyTM, this program provides both on-ice instruction as well as off-ice integration of weight training, fitness testing, minor games and other PE activities. Students are required to provide all their own equipment including a certified helmet with full face protection and appropriate neck guard. Jerseys are proved as part of the academy fee.
All applicants must submit a Hockey Skills Academy Application form as well as a medical form, both of
which can be downloaded from the Hockey Skills Academy website. Secondary aged students who wish to participate in the program but who are not enrolled at ADSS should inform their school administrator. Contact the Hockey Skills Academy teacher at ADSS for additional details.
Specialty academies are subject to a supplemental fee.
